Latex "Slightly Out of Frame" EP
........................................................................................................................................................
Release date : 25 MAY 2001

The band is a four piece, formed by 2+2 brothers with a bizarre feticist attitude for every electronic circuit able to generate sounds, plus various instruments, from Analog Modular Synth to Sampler, Bass, Keyboards and various effects. They are great supporter of DOEPFER Analog Modular Synths, and they hardly abuse of them during their live performances.

All recordings are based on pure improvvisation, live mixing and absolutly no overdubs....They usually just cut the best pieces and assemble their masters.....

The best way to understand the Latex experience is to see them playing live, moving from extreme terroristic sounds to states of deep ambient . 4 hours of their usual live mixing and you will be lucky if your neurons will be still connected the same way they were before !!!! The band played extensively all over Italy, (islands included) reaching the attention of italian media thanks also to their soundtrack work into the italian indipendent movie "La Mucca Magnetica" (The Magnetic Cow) and various visual installations.

After their pluri-appreciated selftitled demoCd which went quickly sold out through the italian electronic underground circuits, their official debut EP titled "Slightly Out Of Frame" was been released on 25 May 2001 under our trademark.

1. VCO COMMUNICATION: itís a part integrant of Enjoy Know Culture, growing from a sonic magma already dense of loops. The track is characterized by noisy sweep interventions of the analog modular synth like a sort of mad singing.

2. ENJOY KNOB CULTURE: run enterily on a really captivating 3/4 sample supported by a regular bass line which scan the rhythm changes, while the synth continue with its crazy singing. On another sonic level a series of modulations and filterings. Interesting the rhythmic deconstruction at the end of the track where the sample is played polyrhythmicaly . All is closed by an heavy radio waves filtering.

3. S-SCREAMING: hyper arranged totally aleatory is based on rhythmic variation of the drum sample with a timing shifting of the istrumental parts which are lean against a screaming texture and regular bass. The synth sweep interventions grow up step by step creating with the rhytmic section overlaps always different. Could be considerated the most accessible track of the band.

4. ONE WAVE OUT: represent the typical way of working of the band, which have the unique peculiarity of working absolutly live, without premade base or presorted structures. In these track the drum machine si programmed during the exhibition, creating istants of big tension. Really beatiful the ambient work and the final crescendo, a very achieved full accord moment of the band.

5. ASTRO HYPOTHESIS: liquid ambients, oniric, industrial screechs for a track that close this EP without drum sounds which represent the other side of Latex, where the ambients are sick, restless and absolutly "drumless".

Listening instructions : Lots of people told us that the record is more appreciated after various listening between months, most of them was been really surprised about things they didn't appreciated on a first stage, and suddenly realized after 1 month or 2, seems also that a dark room is a good place to enjoy it.
