Mechanism is really honoured to
announce the signing of CLUB 8.
CLUB 8 is Jhoan Angergard and Karolina Komstedt, the band have
already released many records all over USA, Japan and Spain with huge success.
CLUB 8 born out some time before Poprace split up- Johan and Karolina
from the band started Club 8. The idea was to make gentler and softer music that
would fit in even better with the music they were listening to at the time.
After the release of their first single Me Too, they were sometimes described
as Astrud Gilberto goes indiepop. However, at the time they had never even
heard her. The jazzier side of the music found on this record was a result of their
listening to Blueboy and The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group.
Later they felt obliged to give Astrud a chance. They liked what they heard and discovered
Joâo Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim as well. These influences
did not affect the making of their first album Nouvelle dramatically. Though
Nouvelle was coloured by bossa nova and jazzy pop, Karolina and Johan's anorak background
shone through...
During 2001-02 CLUB 8 locked themselves up in the famous Summersound Studios
in Sweden, writing songs and experimenting with different sounds.
The result is "Spring came, rain fell " their most diverse, exciting
and very best album so far.
CLUB 8 succeeds in mixing dub, C-86, triphop,chill out, 80's synth pop and
bossa nova, but without ever losing focus on those wonderfully Scandinavian melancholic
pop melodies.
"Spring came, rain fell " will be issued on Mechanism during next
months.
